The short story I read was "A Rose For Emily." From the title i thought this was going to be a completely different story, but i did take into consideration who told me to read it. Now i don't know Mel very much at all, but from the little time we have spoken i kind of knew to expect something a little odd at least. Next i read the introduction about the author, and then i really thought i would like this story. i figured it would be about a mother losing a son. a Family going through hard times, things like that. So when i read the story it was not what i expected at all. I really didn't like the story to be completely honest. Not because of the story itself but because of the way it was written. I just thought it could have been a really good story if it had just stuck to the "real" story. I felt it didn't need to go on and on about the taxes. it didn't need to go on and on about the father. NOne of that really mattered, to me anyway. Just the main story would have been nice. Another thing that messed me up was having read the stuff about the author and about the story, i kept assuming things and messing up the story for myself. The story was okay but in my opinion could have been better.
